Many people go on and on about blogging and starting online blogs. But what are blogs and what do you do with them? Blogging encompasses a large variety of things. For example, many bloggers right now are social media influencers. A lot of people start by writing blogs to build a large following to further their careers as social media influencers. On the contrary, many people start blogs as a form of self-expression and a creative outlet made just for themselves or others! You can blog about virtually anything that you can talk or write about! Your blog is your creative outlet to do or talk about as much or as little as you want.
So how do you get started? It’s probably a good idea to first identify if you want your blog to be a space for discussion and open to others, or a place where you just write down your thoughts privately. Once you do that, you can brainstorm potential topics. They can include anything about yourself such as hobbies, interests, favourite things, etc. You can also talk about your goals and future travel destinations. Your blog is a place to let out all your thoughts so you can write about anything as long as you feel comfortable doing so.
You can update your blog as often as you want. Once or twice a week is how frequently blogs are usually published, but if you want to, you can even update it 3 or 4 or even 5 times a week! And if you aren’t feeling up for it, you should start with a slower posting rate, like only once a week or once every two weeks. You can even use your blog as a journal and update it every single day. Journaling is an upcoming trend, so incorporating blogging into your daily routine like journaling can help you stay more accountable. Remember to keep up with it regularly!
Having a blog for a long time and even doing weekly posts can also serve as a time capsule so that you can look back in a couple of months or years to see how your life was before. Along with that, you can see how you’ve changed as a person and reflect on your past self. It can also be fun to start a blog with your friends from different countries so that you can keep in touch with them more. You can have conversations together by commenting on each others' posts and writing about each other!
Another benefit to blogging is that it helps you take your mind off things. When you find yourself overthinking certain situations, it may be helpful to just write out all your thoughts in a blog post. It can work as a brain dump where you empty everything you are thinking to clear your mind. Also, having all your thoughts laid out can help you come back to those ideas later in the future if you need them. And on top of all of those reasons, blogging can help relax you! Being alone and writing down your thoughts can help you relax and can be therapeutic.
