How you feel while you are awake during the day is a direct reflection of the rest and sleep you got the night before. It’s crucial to get enough sleep to help support healthy brain function along with helping support growth.
When you sleep, it is a time when your body is healing and repairing your heart along with your blood vessels. And studies have shown that continuous lack of sleep can increase your risk for many health-related issues. Some health-related issues include heart disease, kidney disease, an increase in blood pressure, diabetes, depression, ADHD, and possible strokes. Along with that, sleep deprivation has also been proven to increase the risk of obesity. If your sleep deprivation continues for an extended amount of time, you could even end up with hallucinations. Hallucinations are seeing or feeling things that are not really there. It can also be a trigger for people with certain pre-existing mental health issues. Studies have shown many teenagers experience sleep deprivation. It is recommended for teenagers to sleep anywhere between 8-10 hours a day but it is widely known that many do not sleep that much. The majority of teenagers often have a lot to do including school, part-time jobs, sports, and homework which makes sufficient sleep difficult. But sleep deficiency can affect your ability to act, learn, comprehend, and learn. And in environments like school sleep deprivation can have a huge impact on not only your well-being but also your grades and mental health. It is key for teenagers who are still growing to take care of themselves while they are still growing and developing. Which means, eating and sleeping regularly.

And since sleeping and resting at night is what helps wire your brain for the next day, it is very important to be sleeping a sufficient amount. Sleep deprivation can also lead to many accidents as well since it is affecting your ability to concentrate. Being tired or drowsy is also one of the leading causes of car accidents which can be completely avoided by just getting the right amount of sleep.
A lot of these symptoms are completely avoidable. If you find yourself taking a lot of naps during the day, try to limit sleeping when you shouldn’t be. This way you should be able to have a lot more of a deep sleep at night. Another reason why many people don’t get a lot of sleep is because of caffeine! Getting a coffee or a tea is all great until when it’s past midnight and you can’t fall asleep. If you limit your caffeine intake throughout the day, the quality of your sleep can really improve as well. Another important thing to make sure you are doing is making sure you stick to a consistent sleeping schedule throughout the week. If you sleep at 4 am one day then 8 pm the next, your body will have a harder time adjusting to the sleep schedule, making it even more difficult to relax and get sufficient sleep.
